My Kantha coverlet

I love the design, fabric & colour of this item, which I use as a bedspread on my double bed.

My only criticism is that the stitching that runs vertically throughout was broken in many places when I unpacked the "quilt" as soon as it was delivered. In understanding that this may well be an intrinsic part of a hand made item, I'm concerned it may not handle a machine wash, even on a gentle cycle. It's not the appearance of the broken threads that concern me, it's more how well the bedspread can handle regular cleaning & maintenance, especially as I tend to sit on my bed quite often & generally my little grandson would have his nap on top of any bedspread I use
